FREQENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How  much does stump grinding cost?

Pricing is based primarily on the diameter of the stump at ground level, along with the number of stumps, accessibility, root flare, and the level of restoration requested. We provide free estimates, and in many cases we can provide a quote from photos.

Do you charge for estimates?

No. All estimates including onsite visits are free with no obligation.

Do you offer discounts for multiple stumps?

Yes. The cost per stump is often lower when multiple stumps are completed during the same visit.

How deep do you grind the stump?

Our standard service grinds stumps approximately 4–6 inches below grade, which is sufficient for most lawn restoration and landscaping projects. Deeper grinding is available upon request.

What happens to the wood chips?

Standard service includes backfilling the hole with the grindings mixed with soil and leveling the area. If you'd prefer, we also offer excess grinding removal and topsoil restoration.

Will the roots be removed?

Most tree roots remain underground and naturally decompose over time. We can grind exposed surface roots when requested.

Can you grind surface roots?

Yes. We can grind exposed roots that create trip hazards or interfere with mowing and landscaping.

Can your equipment fit through my backyard gate?

In most cases, yes. Our equipment is designed to fit through many standard residential gates, allowing access to backyards without removing fencing.

Can you grind stumps near fences, patios, or foundations?

Yes. We regularly work around fences, retaining walls, foundations, patios, sidewalks, and landscaping. Every job is evaluated to ensure the safest approach.

Do underground utilities need to be marked?

Yes. Before grinding, underground public utilities should be located. We take care of this and arrange for utility locating before your scheduled service if required.

How soon can you schedule my job?

Scheduling depends on utility marking, weather and workload, but many jobs can be completed within a few days. If there are no utility conflicts some jobs can be completed same day.

Do I need to be home?

Not always. If we have clear access to the work area and the details have been confirmed, we can often complete the work while you're away.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. Loudoun Stump Removal is fully insured, giving you peace of mind while work is performed on your property. We treat every property as if it were our own.

Why choose Loudoun Stump Removal instead of a landscaping or tree company?

Stump grinding isn't just one of our services—it's our specialty. Unlike many tree or landscaping companies, we focus exclusively on stump grinding and site restoration. That means specialized equipment, greater efficiency, attention to detail, and a finished result that leaves your property clean, safe, and ready for what's next.
